Multi CAMRA award-winning Grade II listed 18th Century ale house. First licensed in 1790, this pub is the last remaining hostelry on historic Cartway, which links High Town with the quayside. Knowledgeable staff can advise on the range of ales available from six handpumps, complimented by traditional bar snacks. The patio at the rear affords views over the river Severn and Bridgnorth landscape. Large filled cobs are usually available all day (Thursdays - Sundays) plus pork pies and scotch eggs outside the winter months The Cliff Railway, England's only inland funicular railway and one of the steepest, is nearby in Underhill Street close to the bus stop. The pub may close early when trade is slack.
